Personal Finance: Beware of phony debt collectors

These calls are based in southern California and are from call centers in India. They are asking for payment on delinqent loans. They act as attorneys or law enforcement and threaten lawsuits or arrests. In 8.5 million calls tracked over 4 months in late 2010, they got more than $5 million dollars. They were going by American Credit Crunchers LLC and Ebeeze LLC which are now shut down because of this.
